What We Offer
Mamre is one of nine organisations that has been contracted, through its Pave the Way program, by the Queensland Government to deliver a series of Participant Readiness activities, including presentations, workshops and webinars in the lead up to the commencement in July 2016 of the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) in Queensland. This new aspect of Pave the Way's work will assist Queenslanders with disabilities, their families and carers in North Coast, North Queensland and Far North Queensland regions to prepare for the roll out of the scheme.
We believe one of the strengths of Pave the Way being involved in the Participant Readiness activities is that we don’t represent a service provider in the regions in which we will present the workshops and presentations. Therefore, people with a disability and their families can expect a neutral and impartial voice coming through these presentations. This, along with all the ideas and strategies that families have shared with us over the many years we have been working across the state, is reflected in this Participant Readiness work.
We have begun the Participant Readiness work across the 3 regions, beginning with a three-hour presentation called Paving the Way to the NDIS. This presentation explores:
- A basic overview of the NDIS and the role of the National Disability Insurance Agency (NDIA)
- What you need to do to prepare for planning with the NDIA
- The strengths and limitations of funding and
- What you need to do to develop confidence as a consumer of disability services.
This presentation will be followed by two practical workshops called: “Documenting Personal Information” and “Planning for a Good Life". We will also continue to develop written resources which will be available on our website or via email or mail when requested.
